TEST TAKING SKILLS

2 HOURS.

Unclassified

Location: This course is presented as a two hour live conference call placed from your facility to ours. Using this simple format, any number of your employees can participate at no extra charge.

Conference calls like this are widely used to hold corporate shareholder briefings. They are convenient, economical, and effective. They allow the participants to interact with the instructor while minimizing travel time and per-person cost.

OBJECTIVE
Licensing and certification programs are increasingly widespread today. More and more customers and government agencies now require what is, ( or appears to be ) an objective measurement of an expert's technical competence. Many of these programs use multiple-choice tests.

Unfortunately, besides technical knowledge, tests also measure test taking skills.

Without the ability to work rapidly and accurately, to minimize errors, and to control stress, even experts can find themselves at a disdvantage when taking an examination.

People who have been pioneers in their fields or who solved tough problems that eluded others can now find themselves eclipsed by less talented colleagues who are simply better at taking tests.

Who should take this course:

This course is designed for professionals who know their subject matter and are being required to take a multiple choice test for licensing or certification. This course does not address essay questions, proofs, or problems that require you to show your work.

This course is designed for working adults. Some mature teen-agers might benefit, but the course is not a short-cut or a substitute for education or experience.

This course is ideal for small organizations that are increasingly required to have their staff members pass a licensing or certification test. Because of it's convenient conference call format, all of your staff members can attend this course simultaneously. This further amortizes the course's modest cost. For a small investment of time and money, your organization can quickly enhance its competitiveness and growth potential.

Types of Tests:

This course is particularly suitable for technical exams presented by state and federal authorities, such as the FCC licensing tests and the state licensing tests for various trades and professions.

It may be useful for the following tests, but it was not specifically designed for them: Bar exams, CPA exams, medical boards, Civil Service tests, Scholastic Aptitude tests, police academy entrance tests, Graduate Management Admission Tests, or Graduate Record Exams.

Hands-on tests:

In addition to a written test, some licensing programs require a practical demonstration of a particular skill. This course covers hands-on tests when needed.

About the instructor:

The instructor has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, and holds a large number of licenses and certifications issued by state, federal, and international organizations. All of these require a test. In preparing for each of those tests, the instructor acquired a valuable body of knowledge about test-taking in general.
